Hanvon CVJB-G107 – affordable facial recognition door entry access system

Ever wanted to own a fancy facial recognition door entry access system that also keeps records of people entering or leaving your facilities? The Hanvon CVJB-G107 Face Recognition Time Attendance System and Access Door Lock from electronics wholesaler Chinavasion is a low cost solution (compared to other similar systems) and lets you program who gets in and out of your business or home. The system works by taking a 3D image of people at the door via its two cameras and matching them against your stored database of up to 500 faces.

Chinavasion says the wall-mounted CVJB-G107 can recognize facial distinction accurately in less then a second and the added security of 3D images means that photographs of people won’t fool the system, so only the real people can gain access to your facility. It uses the same wiring protocol (Weigand) commonly used to connect a card swipe mechanism to the rest of an electronic entry system, enabling you to monitor your staff or your family members and their houseguests.

The facial recognition and time attendance system is powered by 12V DC and a 500mA working current. Its power consumption is 12 Watts when operating, less than 5 Watts in standby mode. Its dimensions are 145 x 200 x 90mm (L x W x D) and it will blend comfortably alongside most of the other high-tech devices in the office. The unit is also equipped with night vision, 3.5-inch TFT display screen, touch keypad, speaker, USB and Ethernet port for TCP/IP connections.

The Hanvon CVJB-G107 comes with its management software that allows you to define work time, vacation time, overtime, etc., and gives you full data and reports by department or individual so you can see who’s late, out of the office or slacking outside for one too many snack breaks.

Aside being able to lock and unlock doors through face recognition technology, record employee attendance and keep track of employee times, the facial recognition and time attendance system is also able export and import from a TXT file, download recorded data via USB or TCP/IP and even let you open or lock the doors remotely.

Although its manufacturer claims you can finally get rid of the swiping cards, they should have left the option for the product upgrade and combination with other security technologies, since there are rare cases that could override this system. A simple example is a case of identical twins where one twin is working for the company and other twin being able to access the facility. Another problem could occur if both of the identical twins work for the same company. I wonder which twin would be identified every time, the first one in the system database?
